This little baby did get a new sister. Her mom adopted a frightened little Chihuahua, but only after making sure that the two of them would get along.

I watched them touch noses through the bars of the cage, and I watched as this cute baby gave the skinny little Chihuahua a quick bath.

I've been playing with the exposure settings on my camera. I caughts this bird on a wire and I just like the glow around the dark parts of the bird and the wire. Gonna try and fine tune this effect.

My puppies, Lupe and Reggie, have had two litters together. This is their first litter: Gordito, Baby, Ruby Clifford, Sammy Gomez.

Clifford is the big red dog.

Trying hard to get the so-called Rembrandt lighting...also fiddling a little with the image in Picasa.

This image uses the focal black and white filter. I moved the focus to the tip of the Bidi, and set the size as small as possible. Picasa is great; Bidis suck.

I am not shocked to see, with the current popularity of the Moleskine, that someone has finally gotten the idea of producing a knock off.
The faux-skine (PaperBlanks Back Pocket Mini) is a dead ringer for the trusty black books except that the cover is sort of slick like wallpaper, and the elastic band is attached on the inside of the back cover rather than the outside. Apart from that...well I thought it was one of the new Moleskines--it even has an expanding pocket in the back.

The camera, the $600.00 camera, that I am not using to take these pictures. The camera I am seriously thinking about selling on ebay. The camera that I lusted after for years. The camera know as the workhorse of the pros--put out to pasture by this amateur because he is too cheap to buy film and pay for developing.

With the same lighting setup as before, I am using my camera's lowest ISO setting (64), widest aperature (f/2.8), and a shutter speed of 1/25.

I have been tinkering with portrait lighting, of which there seem to be four basic types. In this picture, I have set my main, or key light, at a fourty-five degree angle to the right of the camera, and my fill light at a ninety degree angle to the left of the camera. The key light is set very close to Reggie, compared to the fill light. Based on the research I have done, this is called broad side lighting.

Reggie again, nothing new there, what is new is the set up. This time, instead of natural light, I am using two 23W (1600 lumen) Sylvania Soft White mini 100 fluorescent blubs mounted in aluminium clamp type shop lights--one mounted on a tripod, and one hand-held.

I am a seriously amateur picture-taking-person (I refuse to call my self a photographer because it seems to me that a photographer is a person who actually knows what he is doing, and can repeat the output). I have spent some (lots) on equipment, but I have gotten past the point where I think every picture has some redeeming quality--I know that most of the pictures I take are crap. Thank god for digital. Still, once in a while I take a picture that I like; they're not always good but for some reason I like it.

This picture of Reggie is one of those times. Everything is on auto-pilot, and I just stuck the camera under his nose.

Pure luck that anything came out, way too dark, but I like it anyway.
